Charlie Kirk Does A Racist Impression Of A Univision Anchor

On their Rumble show, Thoughtcrime, co-hosts Charlie Kirk and Jack Posobiec broke down the second Republican presidential primary debate with their guests, Charlie Kirk Show producer Blake Neff and TPUSA COO Tyler Bowyer. The group panned the debate, with Kirk singling out Univision anchor and debate moderator Ilia Calderón for racist mockery.

Kirk played a clip of Calderón asking Gov. Ron DeSantis about his response to the “hurt” caused by the Florida’s 2023 social studies curriculum, which teaches that some Black people benefitted from slavery because they learned useful skills. (Gov. DeSantis referred to the controversy as a “hoax.”)

In response Kirk angrily lashed out at Calderón.

“Why, in a Republican debate — I’m gonna stand up for Ron DeSantis — does Ron DeSantis have to endure that from a woman who can barely speak English?” Kirk asked. “Like honestly. Like it’s an AOC look-alike who’s asking like a MSNBC-type talking point that does not good for us to understand where the Republican Party is.”

Kirk then did a racist impression of Calderón, who is Colombian, saying, “‘People are still hurt.’ No they’re not. You think that Black America is wringing their hands in their living room, like ‘Oh yeah, I’m really hurt over a line in a textbook for an 8th grader in Florida’? ‘People are still hurt. And they’re crying. Gov. DeSantis they’re crying.’ Shut up!”

After playing a second clip, this one of Calderón asking former Vice President Mike Pence about his plan to protect the LGBTQ+ community from violence and discrimination, Kirk asked if he was “watching Rachel Maddow with a heavy South American accent” and said it “should make people repulsed.” He added that, “It doesn’t have to be this way. If you want that, go on CNN.”

Tyler Bowyer said that the “biggest attack” on Hispanic Americans is “the attack on their families’ small business.” He complained that “all they talk about on Univision and Telemundo is the LGBTQ,” and suggested people “go to a taco truck and say ‘Hey, how are LGBTQ issues affecting your taco truck business?'”

Blake Neff recalled that he once went to a D.C. Burger King that had a TV in it, and that a group of “working class Hispanic guys” changed the channel to Fox News in order to watch Tucker Carlson. This prompted Kirk to say, once again in a mock Hispanic accent, “Ey, ey ése, put on the Tucker man. Ey, ése, I wanna see him. I like what Tucker has to say!”
