Christopher Cantwell Pleads For Money And Urges Followers To ‘Monitor’ Enemies In Jailhouse Phone Call

Last night, Unite the Right organizer Jason Kessler posted audio of a phone interview he conducted with Christopher Cantwell from the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail. Cantwell, whose unfortunate nickname is the “Crying Nazi,” is currently being held without bond on three felonies stemming from his alleged use of mace on two anti-racist protesters in Charlottesville.

During the call, Kessler said it was “wise” for Cantwell to instruct people not to harass his accusers. But he asked whether or not they should be scouring their social media accounts for evidence of wrongdoing they can present in court. Cantwell replied that he “100% want[s] everybody finding out everything they can about these people.”

Cantwell suggested his white nationalist supporters “monitor their social media, archive their tweets,” and “do everything you can to catch them in lies because they tell them all the time.” And he didn’t limit this to his two accusers either, and added that they should “find other people who are involved in all this Antifa crap, monitor them because they are criminals and we need to bring them to justice.”

He also compared his situation to Adolf Hitler’s 1923 Beer Hall Putsch, telling Kessler that his fellow white supremacists needed to follow the law — for now, anyway. “Now, in the Beer Hall Putsch, this is what ends up getting Hitler locked up for treason, okay? And he realized during the course of that that you had to do this legally. You could not take power by force. You have to go through the motions, you have to do things through the system because these people are too goddamn powerful.”

Oh and he needs money. Lots of it. Cantwell claims to have “burned through” a $2,500 retainer and says he and goat-sacrificing Nazi Augustus Invictus are working on setting up a fundraiser. You know, for hiring a private investigator and expert witnesses. And, he said, any work that goes into this case will be useful in his future civil suit.

“So when we start throwing subpoenas around to get my ass outta prison, we’re gonna start pokin’ into what the Charlottesville government has been doing, and why they tried to push hundreds of armed white nationalists into a bunch of Communist rioters,” he warned.

Kessler: I know you brought up your accusers before, and tellin’ people not to go after them. I think that’s wise. But isn’t it right that people should look into these people and their social media, and see like if they’re cheering like, “Oh we set Cantwell up, blah blah blah” — we can present that in court. I think people should be monitoring their social media.

Cantwell: I 100% want everybody finding out everything they can about these people. Monitor their social media, archive their tweets, do everything you can to catch them in lies because they tell them all the time and they will be easy to catch because they’re very fucking bad at it.

But do not do so much as say a word to them. Don’t ‘like’ their tweets. Don’t reply to their Facebook posts. Do not phone call — do not have any communication with them whatsoever. But yes, gather every piece of information that you can. Especially about these people, but also if you find other people who are involved in all this Antifa crap, monitor them because they are criminals and we need to bring them to justice.

Kessler: And what are their names? Emily Gorcenski was the one, and who is the other guy?

Cantwell: Christopher Goad. G-o-a-d.

Kessler: And so if anybody bothers them it’s explicitly against Cantwell’s wishes. That’s on record.

Cantwell: Well, and listen to me, I’m not even just trying to make a goddamn record here. You are not helping me or anybody else if you go and you antagonize these people, which — here’s what we need to do, okay? And this is — look, anybody that’s familiar with The Daily Stormer knows Andrew Anglin, okay? And he made a comparison of Charlottesville to the Beer Hall Putsch, okay? Now, in the Beer Hall Putsch, this is what ends up getting Hitler locked up for treason, okay? And he realized during the course of that that you had to do this legally. You could not take power by force. You have to go through the motions, you have to do things through the system because these people are too goddamn powerful.

I am telling everybody who is listening to the sound of my voice right now, I am not making a fucking disclaimer. You have to obey the fucking law. You can’t engage in violence. And you can’t go after my accusers, not even to annoy them on social media. You’re not helping me, you’re not helping the cause, you’re not helping your race, you’re not helping your nation by doing any of that, okay?

Kessler: So what else can people do to help you?

Cantwell: [Unintelligible] information to prosecute these fucking people.

Kessler: You started to say something about fundraising, right?

Cantwell: Yeah, Augustus Invictus, I’m gonna talk to him tomorrow. We’re trying to decide between two different platforms of which one to do the fundraiser on for the legal defense fundraiser. And I need — I’m going to need a whole bunch of money. This is gonna be an expensive case. And on top of that, I can’t — I have to pay [all of] my bills while I’m in here and I don’t get to work and do all the things that I normally do. So…

Kessler: What’s the cost on the case? How much do you think you’re gonna need to raise?

Cantwell: Well, lemmie put it this way, I have no idea what it’s going to cost. I’ve paid a retainer that’s — I paid a $2,500 retainer which I’ve already burned through, okay? And then we’re going to probably have to hire a private investigator, we’re gonna have to have expert witnesses, we’re gonna have to go through hours and hours of video. There’s a lot that goes into this.

But I wanna tell anybody who is donating to that legal defense fundraiser, it’s important to keep in mind that all of that work that I’m gonna go through on my criminal case is also going to go and assist whatever civil cases come out of this later on as well, okay? So when we start throwing subpoenas around to get my ass outta prison, we’re gonna start pokin’ into what the Charlottesville government has been doing, and why they tried to push hundreds of armed white nationalists into a bunch of Communist rioters.
