Anti-black writer Colin Flaherty — whose 2012 book White Girl Bleed a Lot: The Return of Racial Violence to America and How the Media Ignore It supposedly documents a trend of black-on-white violence — made an appearance on the white nationalist Red Ice Radio podcast to denounce Black Lives Matter and push the myth that there is some kind of unprecedented attack on police officers. Flaherty, it seems, has built a career on using anecdotal evidence (YouTube clips and comments on online articles) to paint the picture of a violent race war being waged against white people.
David Duke recently announced his candidacy for the United States Senate, crediting the rise of Donald Trump in his decision to do so. Duke, a longtime white supremacist and anti-Semite, has predictably centered his campaign around the needs of white people — or as he irritatingly refers to us, “European-Americans.” Naturally, Duke’s membership in the Ku Klux Klan is being reported on by the media. In an August 16, 2016 interview with Red Ice Radio host Henrik Palmgren, Duke not only dismissed his past as “irrelevant,” but admitted to viewing his time in the Klan as a badge of honor. Not too long ago I reported that prominent men’s rights activist Janice Fiamengo appeared on the white supremacist podcast Radio 3Fourteen hosted by Lana Lokteff. Radio 3Fourteen (a program that is part of the larger Red Ice Radio network) has hosted notorious Holocaust-deniers, Neo-Nazis, and other fringe figures in the past, and the show’s host is no stranger to making racist and homophobic remarks. Yet Fiamengo isn’t the only men’s rights leader to appear on the program. In fact, between 2013 and the present, four prominent MRAs have been guests on Radio 3Fourteen: Paul Elam, Warren Farrell, Christina Hoff Sommers, and Suzanne Venker. Early this month, white nationalist and pickup artist Matt Forney made a guest appearance on the white nationalist Red Ice Radio show hosted by Henrik Palmgren and Lana Lokteff. On the July 8, 2016 episode of the podcast, Forney sat down to discuss the killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. Forney, right-wing activist with a long history of anti-black rhetoric, used his appearance as an opportunity to spread deranged conspiracy theories about their deaths.
