After mulling over what to do with the nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants currently shielded from deportation by DACA, President Trump has all but announced the program will be scrapped with a six month delay. According to Politico, this inhumane and illogical decision was the handiwork of Attorney General Jeff Sessions:
Trump has wrestled for months with whether to do away with the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, known as DACA. But conversations with Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who argued that Congress — rather than the executive branch — is responsible for writing immigration law, helped persuade the president to terminate the program and kick the issue to Congress, the two sources said.
Some prominent Republicans had cautioned Trump against ending the program, including Paul Ryan and Orrin Hatch.
Conservative Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin (correctly) wrote in an op-ed that “if Trump cancels DACA, it will be one more attempt to endear himself to his shrinking base with the only thing that truly energizes the dead-enders: vengeance fueled by white grievance.”
White supremacists and other cretins, on the other hand, have lauded the decision, viewing it as another step toward making America white again. Richard Spencer called Trump’s decision a “great start”:
Theodore “Vox Day” Beale crowed that Trump was turning undocumented immigrants’ “dream into a nightmare”:
Jazzhands McFeels, co-host of the podcast Fash the Nation tweeted “Good afternoon to everyone except dreamers”:
And resurrected the myth that millions of “illegal votes” cast in the 2008 presidential election:
The Daily Caller’s Scott Greer joked about DREAMers losing their jobs:
As did far-right YouTube personality Stefan Molyneux:
Alt-right congressional candidate Paul Nehlen boasted that he and other anti-immigrant zealots are “gonna build a wall and put you on the other side”:
And it’s not just the alt-right that’s jubilant. Here’s wash-up James Woods calling the DREAMers “Democrat larvae”:
Jack Posobiec helpfully reminded us that “DACA illegals” “weren’t born in America” and that “‘Dreamers’ is not a race”:
Both right-wing troll Mike Cernovich and Trump surrogate/professional huckster Pastor Mark Burns shared their expertise on constitutional law:
The world’s worst cartoonist weighed in:
And the trolls at r/The_Donald responded by posting this meme:
