CPAC Headliner Milo Yiannopoulos Defends Relationships Between Adults and Children

On the latest episode of Real Time With Bill Maher, Maher sat down for a one-on-one interview with openly gay, alt-right-loving provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos. Yiannopoulos’ claims to fame, such as they are, include penning misogynistic screeds for the noxious website Breitbart News, engaging in the targeted harassment of Saturday Night Live actress Leslie Jones, and shaming transgender students as part of his “Dangerous Faggot” college tour.

After the softball interview with Maher, during the YouTube-only Overtime segment, Yiannopoulos was brought back to talk with the rest of the guests. Unsurprisingly, he continued his childish antics, calling the other panelists “stupid” and smearing transgender people as sexual predators. Indeed, Yiannopoulos claimed that “women and girls should be protected from having men who are confused about their sexual identities from their bathrooms.” The excretable Bill Maher claimed this was “not unreasonable.”

When challenged, Yiannopoulos asserted that transgender people are “disproportionately involved in those kinds of crimes” — that is, sexual assaults.

The irony, of course, is not limited to the fact that a misogynist is feigning concern for women and girls. In audio recovered by conservative Twitter account “The Reagan Battalion,” Milo can be heard defending sexual relationships between adults and children as young as 13. The audio, as I discovered, came from an episode of the Drunken Peasants podcast dated January 4, 2016. The podcast is apparently co-hosted by T.J. Kirk (a.k.a., “The Amazing Atheist”).

Milo denounced the “arbitrary and oppressive idea of consent” and said that people are “messy and complex” creatures. He went on to say that this is true “in the homosexual world, particularly,” where “older men help those young boys to discover who they are, and give them security and safety.” One of the co-hosts interjected by comparing the situation Yiannopoulos was describing to “priest molestation.”

“And do you know what? I’m grateful for Father Michael, I wouldn’t give nearly such good head if it wasn’t for him,” Yiannopoulos shot back.

Then, Yiannopoulos was confronted with his own statements about the transgender community, and how the next step by the Left would be to normalize pedophilia. “You’re misunderstanding what pedophilia means,” he replied. “Pedophilia is not a sexual attraction to somebody 13 years-old who is sexually mature. Pedophilia is attraction to children who have not reached puberty. Pedophilia is attraction to people who don’t have functioning sex organs yet, who have not gone through puberty.”

So while Milo denied defending pedophilia, he said he didn’t “mind admitting” to advocating for “cross-generational relationships,” as one person said. “And I think particularly in the gay world — and outside the Catholic Church, if that’s where some of you want to go with this — I think in the gay world, some of the most important, enriching, and incredibly life-affirming, important, shaping relationships [are] very often between younger boys and older men, [and] they can be hugely positive experiences.”

Meanwhile, the CPAC 2017 headliner is currently the editor of the far-right Breitbart News website, where he publishes articles excoriating the Left for supposedly “sticking up for pedophiles” and asserting that “Pro-pedophile activism continues to surface on the Left in a way that it simply doesn’t on the Right.” And while it is true that Milo did not explicitly defend relationships between prepubescent children and adults, he comes dangerously close to doing so. If he wants to find the folks who are attempting to normalize relationships between adults and kids, maybe he should find a mirror.
